When you talk with Lifeline, we process your messages to understand context and provide helpful responses. This processing happens ephemerally—meaning we don't store your conversation content beyond what's needed for your active session.
Your words help us understand what you're going through in the moment, but they aren't kept in a permanent record. Once your session ends, the conversation context is cleared.
If you send "…" or remain quiet for a while, we interpret that as a signal that you need space, not that you've disengaged. This helps us respect your boundaries and avoid sending unwanted follow-up messages.
These silence signals are part of how we understand your needs in the moment. They're processed the same way as your messages—ephemerally, just for your current session.
When you choose settings like Dining Mode or Privacy Mode, these are user-declared preferences that we store locally on your device. They help us adjust how Lifeline responds to better match your situation.
These preferences are saved in your browser's local storage, which means they stay on your device and aren't sent to our servers. You can change or clear them at any time.
Lifeline does not use browser geolocation. We don't request access to your device's location, and we don't track where you are.
If you choose to share context about your location (like "I'm at a restaurant"), that's information you provide directly—we don't verify or track it.
We do not sell your data to third parties. We do not share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
The information you share with Lifeline is used only to provide you with support and helpful responses. It's not used for marketing, advertising, or any purpose other than your direct interaction with Lifeline.
LifelineAnchor may use your phone number to deliver transactional and system notifications you opt in to receive (e.g., in-app inbox notifications, alerts, acknowledgements, and safety-related updates).
